Position Summary

Lead end-to-end survey planning, execution and route optimization for Transmission Line, Distribution and Cable projects, from pre-bid assessment through project execution. Responsible for defining survey scope, assessing route and project risks, analysing survey data and optimizing alignments and BOQs. Leverage advanced survey technologies and geospatial tools to ensure accuracy, cost optimization, constructability and timely project delivery.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  1. Pre-Bid Survey Management: Lead end-to-end pre-bid surveys for Transmission Line, Distribution and Cable projects to enable accurate project assessment and bidding.

  2. Survey Scope & Planning: Define survey scope in consultation with the bidding and project teams, considering terrain, route complexity, statutory requirements and project risks.

  3. Risk Assessment: Identify and capture critical survey information required for technical risk assessment, constructability evaluation and mitigation planning.

  4. Route Alignment & Optimization: Develop and optimize route alignments considering technical feasibility, terrain, ROW constraints, crossings, cost and execution requirements.

  5. Survey Execution: Manage walkover, detailed and check surveys, including pit marking, line profiling, contouring and tower spotting/leg configuration across plain and hilly terrain.

  6. Survey Data Analysis & BOQ Optimization: Analyse survey outputs to optimize route length, tower/structure requirements, quantities and BOQ, supporting competitive project costing.

  7. Survey Instrumentation: Ensure effective deployment and application of Auto Level, Total Station, DGPS and GPS for accurate field data collection.

  8. Geospatial & Engineering Tools: Utilize AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, Global Mapper and ArcGIS for route planning, profiling, mapping, georeferencing, analysis and visualization of survey data.

  9. Crossing & Statutory Inputs: Develop survey inputs required for PTCC, Civil Aviation, Forest, Gas Pipeline, Power Line Carrier (PLC), National Highway and Railway proposals/clearances.

Critical Success Factors - Essential

  • End-to-end survey planning and execution for Transmission Line, Distribution and Cable projects, including pre-bid and detailed surveys
  • Strong capability in route alignment and optimization, considering terrain, constructability, ROW, crossings and cost implications
  • Proficiency in Auto Level, Total Station, DGPS and GPS for accurate field data collection
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, Global Mapper and ArcGIS for route planning, profiling, mapping and survey data analysis
  • Ability to analyse survey outputs and optimize BOQ, ensuring accurate inputs for bidding and project planning

Critical Success Factors - Desirable

  • Experience in managing complex surveys across varied terrains and project types, including hilly and difficult terrains
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize route length, structures and project quantities, resulting in cost and execution efficiencies
  • Exposure to advanced/digital survey technologies such as drone-based surveys, LiDAR or other emerging survey methodologies
